Mao style kite making originated from the Maozuyun clan of people on the outer beach of Zhelin. Mao Zuyun was born in Daishan Island, Zhejiang Province. His ancestors made a living in salt industry. The sun is the "sky lamp" in the hearts of the salt people and the "blessing" given by the Bodhisattva. During the Qingming Festival, the salt people pray for the blessing of the Bodhisattva and the manifestation of their ancestors, and at the same time, they worship heaven and earth to show their gratitude. This worship ceremony seeking spiritual support has given birth to a unique folk customs.
