This course is a mass-oriented one. It is an open course that aims to popularize interdisciplinary knowledge and study cases in the field of law, administration, and culture. The course covers not only the legal principles of copyright, patent, trademark, anti-improper competition, network intellectual property, and strategic management of intellectual property, but also the study of practical cases of intellectual property in such companies as Huawei, Apple and BAT. Furthermore, it also includes the reflection and exploration of traditional intellectual property from the perspective of intellectual property culture.
Students are supposed to study by themselves under the tutorial guidance of the online video course. Supplementary means like online live broadcast and interactive discussion are applied. Lu Qi, law professor, has engaged in teaching and researching in intellectual property law for a long time. She is the editor of Copyright Law (Gansu People’s Publishing House, 1997), the co-editor of Intellectual Property Law (Law Press, 2005). She also published pieces of articles like The Legal Options of Shanghai Disneyland Park for the Growth of Innovative Industries (Science Technology and Law, 2011(5)). She holds the following adjunct research positions: standing director and deputy secretary-general of China Law Association on Science and Technology; extramural supervisor of the Intellectual Property School of East China University of Political Science and Law; trial consultant for intellectual property in the Intermediate People’s Court of Xining city, Qinghai Province, etc. Her main research interest lies in science and technology law, intellectual property law, network information law etc.
Meng Qinggang, law lecturer, attorney, and the assistant teacher of this course, has engaged in teaching and conducting researches in intellectual property law for a long time. He is the co-editor of Intellectual Property Law (Law Press, 2005). He published pieces of articles including Analysis and Countermeasures on the New Trend of International Intellectual Property (People’s Tribune, 2013(3)), Revision of Trademark Concept in an Information Economy Era (Electronics Intellectual Property, 2008(1)), etc. Mr. Meng is now the director of China Law Association on Science and Technology. Mr. Meng and Mrs. Lu cooperated and completed the course of Intellectual Property Law for undergraduate (including college) software engineering majors (on information service) of Shanghai Open University.
